Cinema camera packages prepped and delivered across China

Camera gear rental in China runs through a set group of partners. In the capital, Mango Gear Beijing and Beijing Film Gear are the leading ARRI houses, while Photon Asia covers high-end commercial and feature work. Shanghai Film Studio Rental and Pacific Audio Visual serve the Yangtze Delta, and Hengdian Gear Rental handles backlot drama. Qingdao Wanda Studios runs fully-equipped soundstage shoots, and the Shenzhen rental cluster (DJI and tech-shoot supply) takes on commercial product work.

Our team books across those inventories to assemble the body, lens, support, and accessory stack a production needs. The request list centres on ARRI Alexa 35, Mini LF, and Alexa Mini bodies, RED V-Raptor and Komodo, and Sony Venice 2, FX9, and FX6 broadcast bodies. These pair with Cooke S7/i and Anamorphic sets, Zeiss Supreme and Master Anamorphic, ARRI Signature Primes, DZOFilm (Chinese-made and gaining global traction), and the Vantage Hawk anamorphics that NRTA-OK'd co-productions now favour.

Global shoots land most of their gear through the cargo terminals at Beijing Capital (PEK), Daxing (PKX), Shanghai Pudong (PVG), Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN), and Hong Kong (HKG). China Customs ATA carnet forms go through the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the same team that books the rental clears customs. Road haulage and CRH high-speed rail cover the inter-city moves. Crews reach Hengdian from Beijing by all-night truck, and run Beijing to Shanghai in 4 hours on the CRH with prep gear. From there they transit onward to Qingdao, Hainan, Yunnan, and the Inner Mongolia or Tibet unit bases that work under NRTA co-production approval.

On the ground, the picture gets more specific. Camera technicians and DITs trained on the Beijing Film Academy cinematography track can join the booking when a Hengdian backlot needs prep support or a Shanghai night exterior needs on-set help. Emergency replacement and cross-rental from partner houses run through the same coordinator. That matters when an Alexa Mini LF goes down on day three of a Tibet altitude schedule at 3,400 metres.

FAQ

Camera Rental Expertise

What camera systems are available in China?

We source every major cinema camera system. That covers the ARRI Alexa 35, Mini LF, and Alexa Mini; RED V-Raptor, Komodo, and Gemini; Sony Venice 2, FX9, and FX6; the Blackmagic URSA series; and Panavision DXL2 and Millennium bodies. We also stock specialty cameras for high-speed, underwater, and aerial work.

How far in advance should I book camera equipment?

We advise booking 2-4 weeks ahead for standard packages, and 4-6 weeks for special gear or busy periods (May-September). Even so, we keep some emergency stock and can often take last-minute requests through our rental network.

Do you provide camera technicians with rentals?

Yes, we can arrange qualified camera technicians, DITs, and prep crew to go with your rental. They give on-set support, daily camera prep, data management, and troubleshooting throughout your production.

How do you handle equipment for international productions?

We handle all logistics for global shoots, including ATA carnet processing, customs records, and delivery planning. Our team manages the paperwork, so your gear clears smoothly into China.

What's included in camera prep?

Full camera prep covers sensor cleaning, lens calibration, function testing of every part, firmware updates, battery conditioning, and cable checks. We provide detailed reports and make sure it is all production-ready.

Can you source specialty or vintage lenses?

Yes, we source specialty glass, including anamorphic lenses (Panavision, Cooke, ARRI), vintage rehoused lenses, and unique character glass. We work with specialty rental houses across China and Asia to find the exact look you want.

Productions in China that need this often pair it with Camera Support Systems, Cinema Lens Kits, and Lens Filters for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Grip Equipment and Audio Equipment Rental.
