Chinese Film Crew - filming location in China

Why Film in China?

China gives you a huge range of filming locations. These span historic imperial palaces and world-class museums, modern cityscapes, Himalayan peaks, tea plantations and rice terraces, and South China Sea coastlines. Iconic Beijing sites include the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City Museum, two of the most sought-after filming spots in the world.

A rich mix of geography, culture, and setup makes China one of the most flexible places in the industry. Strong incentives and advanced facilities back productions of every size.

Historical Sites

UNESCO sites like the Great Wall of China, Zhangjiajie, the Summer Palace, and Roman amphitheaters suit high-end productions.

Island Paradise

East China Sea and South China Sea coastlines, Hainan Island, and island towns give you waterfronts and dramatic seascapes for luxury shoots.

Modern Cities

Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, and Guangzhou offer contemporary architecture and vibrant street life.

Diverse Landscapes

The Himalayas, Tibetan Plateau, and Yunnan terraced fields give you many looks within easy reach of world-class transport.

Incentives and Rebates for Filmmakers

China gives you great value as a filming destination, with proven locations, skilled crews, and broad financial incentives. Government-backed rebate programs cut running costs across feature films, television, and commercial content.

Structured rebate systems give you quick budget relief on both local and international productions. You keep your creative vision while getting the most from your budget.

Qingdao Movie Metropolis Cash Subsidy

The Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis Cash Subsidy The pays up to 40% on qualifying spend. It applies to productions based at the Qingdao studios that meet the 30 million RMB minimum spend, with a lower tier on logistics. The subsidy covers crew pay, equipment purchases, and running costs for features, series, and animation.

Eligibility and Application Process

Your production must spend at least 30 million RMB at the Qingdao studios to qualify. Processing takes about 2-3 months and needs detailed budgets, schedules, and crew documents. Working with skilled Chinese production services keeps your submission compliant and on time.

Additional Regional Incentives

We pair national Chinese film rebates with focused regional programs. These include the Yangtze River region's 20% rebate on eligible expenses and Shanghai's regional incentive. Careful planning matches your locations to your financial goals for the biggest budget impact.
