DIT, secure data and PIPL-compliant cross-border workflows in China

Data-management workflows on Chinese shoots run from on-set DIT stations through Beijing and Shanghai DI labs. These include Base FX, More VFX, Pixomondo Beijing, Beijing Film Group Post, Shanghai Film Studio Post, and the in-house teams at iQIYI and Tencent that handle local streaming-platform deliverables. Our DIT teams set up triple-redundant RAID arrays and run checksum-verified offload on ARRIRAW, RED R3D, Sony X-OCN, Blackmagic BRAW, Canon Cinema RAW, and ProRes camera packages. They also transcode dailies for the producer review chain, manage LUTs and CDLs through the show, and prepare encrypted LTO archives at wrap.

High-speed storage built for multi-camera shoots means dailies are ready same-day, even on tight schedules. The DIT works directly with the camera department and post supervisors. Metadata, sound sync, and VFX pulls then fold cleanly into the project file that Chinese DI labs receive.

What sets China apart from other markets is the layer of rules that sits on top of the workflow. The Cybersecurity Law, Data Security Law, and Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL, 2021) limit cross-border transfer of certain footage types. Most streaming-platform delivery also needs ICP licensing through MIIT. We never ship camera originals abroad without a verified PIPL-compliance review, encrypted data shuttle protocols, and the right export forms cleared in advance. We also keep the chain-of-custody log that Chinese TV networks and the NRTA (National Radio and Television Administration) auditor expect. Our coordinator stays on call from offload through final archive. They manage secure transport between unit base and the Beijing or Shanghai DI lab, and support the handoff to global post houses through approved cross-border channels when the brief allows.

Can you provide on-set color grading?

Yes, our DIT services include on-set color management. We create show LUTs, apply dailies grades, and build CDLs for post-prod, so color stays steady from set through to the final grade.

How do you handle multi-camera productions?

What about archive and delivery?

We provide full archive services, including LTO tape creation, tidy delivery of camera originals, and project handoff to post-prod. Each archive package holds detailed metadata, shot reports, and retrieval records.
