Cable cam systems in China span the full suspended-camera range. At one end sit single-cable point-to-point rigs that reach a few hundred metres, and at the other sit multi-axis Spidercam-style 3D arrays built for stadium and arena coverage. The headline venues each carry the rigging anchor points and structural certifications needed to mount cable-cam coverage for major events: the Bird's Nest National Stadium in Beijing, the Shanghai Stadium, the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, and the Wukesong Sports Center built for the 2008 Olympic and 2022 Winter Olympic broadcasts.

Hengdian World Studios uses point-to-point rigs across its larger period backlots for sweeping reveal shots that dolly track cannot match. Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis runs cable-cam work inside its largest sound stages. Most cable-cam systems in China are imported per project. We source Spidercam-class rigs from Korean and Japanese pro operators and set up ATA carnets through Customs alongside the standard NRTA filming approvals. Our coordinators then manage the tech liaison, the import logistics, and a rigging crew with experience across both Chinese sporting venues and the Hengdian period production stages.

Our process starts with a venue site survey. We confirm anchor-point capacity, headroom, audience overhang zones, and the safety perimeter the specific cable-cam setup needs. System design then matches span length, payload, travel speed, and degrees of freedom to the brief. A CCTV national broadcast of a concert in Beijing needs different rigging from a Tmall product reveal at the Shanghai Mercedes-Benz Arena, or from a Hengdian period drama tracking shot through a battle scene.

Installation runs with full safety backup, including spare cables, emergency braking, fail-safe drop-arrest systems, and the insurance paperwork the Chinese venue management and the local Public Security Bureau require. Camera support covers cinema packages such as the ARRI Alexa Mini LF, the RED V-Raptor, and the Sony Venice 2. These sit alongside broadcast cameras and gimbal-stabilised heads, with live wireless transmission for multi-camera broadcast cuts.

A few details matter here. Our crews set up Chinese business entity partnership invoicing, NRTA approvals, the 17 per cent VAT paperwork, and the Qingdao 40 per cent rebate paperwork where it applies. Sporting-event coverage runs through the China Central Television tech liaison and the relevant league or federation rights holder for the production.
