SCENE 01 / AERIAL DRONE SERVICES
Aerial Drone Services
Licensed drone operators delivering cinematic aerial footage across China.
Aerial drone services deliver cinematic overhead and sweeping perspectives across China's dramatic terrain—from the karst peaks of Guilin to the futuristic skyline of Shanghai's Pudong district. Drones provide cost-effective aerial coverage for establishing shots, scenic reveals, and any production requiring elevated viewpoints over iconic Chinese scenery.
We coordinate fully CAAC-licensed aerial drone services that comply with Chinese aviation regulations and strict airspace requirements. Our team manages UAS real-name registration, flight plan approvals through local air traffic management bureaus, and coordination with Public Security to ensure your production captures stunning aerial footage safely and legally.

CAAC-licensed drone operators from Pudong to the Karst peaks
Aerial drone services in China benefit from the deepest domestic UAV manufacturing base in the world — DJI is headquartered in Shenzhen and the Pearl River Delta supply chain feeds the local rental fleet with same-day spares. Our pilots fly the full DJI Inspire 3, Mavic 3 Pro Cine and Ronin 4D ecosystem alongside Freefly Alta X heavy-lift platforms carrying ARRI Alexa Mini LF and RED V-Raptor bodies for sweeps over the Shanghai Pudong skyline, the karst peaks of Guilin and Yangshuo, the Avatar-inspired sandstone pillars of Zhangjiajie, the Yellow Mountain ranges of Huangshan and the Tianmen Mountain road approaches.
Here is how this works in practice. FPV pilots handle proximity work for Tmall, JD and Alibaba product films, automotive launches for BYD and NIO, and the high-speed chase sequences that Chinese drama productions now book at Hengdian World Studios. Aerial DPs draw from the operator pool that flew on Frant Gwo's Wandering Earth I and II, Zhang Yimou's heritage features and the Tencent-Netflix Three-Body Problem unit, with NRTA pre-shoot approvals coordinated through our Chinese business partner entity needed for foreign productions.
Chinese airspace is among the most tightly regulated in the world, and our flight planning starts with the CAAC drone operator licensing under the Civil Aviation Administration of China framework and the UAS real-name registration that every commercial flight needs. MIIT spectrum allocation paperwork is filed alongside the local Air Traffic Management bureau notifications and the Public Security Bureau coordination needed for urban operations.
The picture on the ground is more specific. Beijing CBD, the Tiananmen exclusion zone, Tibet, Xinjiang and the protected airspace around PLA military installations are no-fly for foreign productions, and our coordinators design flight paths around them at the first scout. Heritage shoots over the Forbidden City, Great Wall sections at Mutianyu and Badaling, Hengdian's period backlots and the Terracotta Warriors complex need special CAAC and NRTA permits coordinated with the Cultural Relics Bureau and the local film administration office.
A few details matter here. Night drone operations, multi-drone shows for Shanghai International Film Festival and brand-launch events in Shenzhen and Guangzhou run within the service line, with the Qingdao 40 per cent rebate and Hengdian incentive scheme applied to qualifying aerial unit spend through the 17 per cent VAT invoicing handled by the Chinese partner.
FAQ
Aerial Cinematography Expertise
What drone certifications do your pilots have?
All our pilots hold Chinese CAAC certifications required for commercial drone operations. Many also hold certifications from other aviation authorities. We maintain full documentation including flight logs, insurance, and operational manuals.
Can you fly drones in cities like Beijing?
Urban drone flying in China requires special authorizations. Beijing has significant restricted airspace, but we can obtain permits for specific locations with advance notice. We handle all regulatory submissions and coordinate with authorities.
What cameras can you mount on drones?
We operate everything from integrated camera systems like DJI Inspire and Mavic lines to heavy-lift platforms carrying RED, ARRI Mini, and other cinema cameras. We match the platform to your image quality requirements and shot complexity.
Do you provide FPV drone services?
Yes, we have experienced FPV pilots for dynamic shots including chase sequences, indoor flying, and high-speed proximity work. Our FPV team uses purpose-built drones with cinema-quality cameras for broadcast-ready footage.
What about night aerial filming?
We're authorized for night drone operations with proper lighting systems, enhanced safety protocols, and appropriate certifications. Night flying requires additional planning and authorization, so please discuss requirements early.
How far in advance should we book?
Standard aerial shoots can often be arranged with 1-2 weeks notice. Complex operations requiring special authorizations, restricted airspace access, or multi-drone setups may need 3-4 weeks for proper planning and approval.
