Lighting Equipment Rental

In China, lighting gear rental runs mostly through a few houses. Mango Studios, BFA Gear, and Beijing Film Gear sit on the western Fifth Ring. Shanghai Film Studio Rental and Pacific AV cover the Songjiang and Pudong corridors. Hengdian Gear Rental and Qingdao Wanda Rental Supply serve the regional backlots and sound stages. Shoots draw on them as they jump from a Beijing Film Studios stage to a Hengdian Ming-Qing street, a Tibetan plateau exterior at 3,400m, or a Gobi Desert overland sequence.

Across that network, our team books the full LED, HMI, and tungsten stack. On the LED side that means Aputure 300x, 600x, 1200d Pro, Nova P600c, and the LS 1200 KSM2 family from the Shenzhen Aputure HQ that now leads the global market, plus Nanlite Forza 500B and 720B from the Nanlite Shenzhen line and the Godox KNOWLED MG series. Imported sets add ARRI SkyPanel S30, S60, S120, and S360, Litepanels Gemini 2x1, and ARRI M-series HMIs from M8 through M90. Older iron includes Mole-Richardson Big Eye Tens and 20K Wendys and a full run of ARRI T-series Fresnels, while the Astera Titan and Hyperion tube range covers practical and rigging work.

Grip stock runs alongside. It covers Matthews and Avenger C-stands and combos, 4x4 through 20x20 frames, Magic Cloth, 1/4 and 1/2 grid, Ultrabounce, and duvetyn flag families. The gaffer and key grip then work from a single staged inventory list before truck loadout.

Each package leaves the warehouse load-tested. Electronic ballasts are cycled, and LED fixtures are colour-checked against the camera's white point. Master TC sync is verified across the SkyPanel and Aputure stock, and dimmer curves are logged on the DMX, Art-Net, and sACN boards. The Bates feeder, distro boxes, and Socapex multi-cable arrive pre-coiled and labelled for the run order.

Chinese gaffers and best boys from the BFA-trained and Shanghai Theatre Academy pools handle load calculations, neutral and earth checks, and tie-in planning. They work with the local State Grid supply at studio stages, or with silent power-pack banks on location. We stage Cummins, Caterpillar, and Yuchai units at Hengdian, Qingdao, and the Tibetan plateau positions where reliable mains are not ready.

NRTA and Public Security Bureau electrical permits move through pre-production. CFCC unit clearances are filed where the shoot involves foreign crew and Chinese co-production forms. ATA carnets clear at Beijing Capital, Shanghai Pudong, and Guangzhou Baiyun cargo, and the 17% VAT bond is brokered on short-term import. A 24-hour replacement cycle out of Beijing and Shanghai keeps shoot days running clean through Beijing winter pollution, Shanghai humidity, and Gobi Desert dust loading.
