Motion Control Services
Robotic precision cinematography for VFX, commercials, and complex productions.
Motion control rigs use computer-programmed camera arms to run exact, repeatable moves. They are key for visual effects compositing, multi-pass photography, car commercials, and tabletop product shots. They also suit any sequence where the same move must repeat across many takes or elements. Beijing and Shanghai are China's top commercial hubs. Demand runs high there for MoCo rigs that serve Chinese brands and global agencies aiming at the Asian market.
We source motion control rigs and skilled operators from across China. We work with stage sites at Hengdian World Studios, Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis, and Wanda Studios in Qingdao. Our team sets up gear delivery, stage time, and tech support. That way, your motion control sequences are captured fast and repeat with exact precision.

Robotic precision for China's tech and automotive shoots
Motion control rigs meet a precise, demanding need on Chinese sets: the same frame-accurate camera move repeated across many passes. That covers VFX compositing, multi-element photography, and car tabletops. It also covers the high-end product filming that defines the country's smartphone, EV, beauty, and FMCG sectors. Most large-scale rigs still arrive on per-project import bookings. Mark Roberts Milo platforms, Bolt, and the new Bolt X high-speed robotic arms ship in from Korean and Japanese partners. Our crew then handles the customs clearance, ATA carnet, and bonded-gear paperwork these short-term imports need.
Smaller Modula platforms and tabletop rigs handle macro work, liquid pours, and food filming. We source these through Beijing and Shanghai rental houses for many kinds of campaigns. They cover Huawei, Xiaomi, DJI, and OPPO product launches. They serve BYD, NIO, Xpeng, and GAC Aion car reveals at Pingshan, Hefei, and Guangzhou. They also run Florasis and Perfect Diary beauty cutdowns, plus Mengniu, Yili, and Nongfu Spring beverage spots from Beijing and Shanghai agencies. Our crew works out of four main sites. These are Hengdian World Studios with its 130-plus volumes, Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis with its underwater tank and virtual production stages, Wanda Studios Qingdao, and the Shanghai Songjiang Film Industrial Park.
Pre-visualisation sits at the heart of the process. Our crew programmes the camera paths in software, times them against animatics, and signs them off before any stage time is spent. This lets DPs and clients refine moves before talent or product arrives at Hengdian, Qingdao, or the Songjiang volumes. On the day, frame-accurate repeats deliver each pass a VFX team needs: hero takes, clean plates, lighting passes, multi-pass element photography, and matched moves. We export the motion data, camera tracking metadata, and lens metadata alongside the footage as OpenEXR or ProRes deliverables.
Our team plugs in directly with China's top VFX houses: Base FX Beijing, Digital Domain China, MPC Shanghai, More VFX, Pixomondo Beijing, Mindwalk Studios, and Light Chaser Animation. We align schedules with the Qingdao 40-per-cent rebate timelines where eligible, plus the standard 17-per-cent VAT paperwork. Our operators carry credits across Huawei and Xiaomi product launches, BYD and NIO car cutdowns, and beauty work for Florasis and Perfect Diary out of Shanghai agencies. Their credits also span high-end commercial campaigns run by Tencent, Alibaba, and ByteDance brand teams. For foreign shoots, we put the required Chinese co-producer relationship in place. We also secure full NRTA, CFA, and provincial film bureau sign-ups before stage day.
FAQ
Robotic Camera Expertise
What is motion control filming?
Motion control uses computer-programmed robotic camera rigs that run precise, repeatable camera moves. The same move can repeat across many passes, which is key for VFX compositing. It also allows moves too fast or too precise for a human to run by hand.
When should I use motion control in China?
Motion control suits VFX-heavy shoots at Hengdian or Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis, car commercials in Shanghai or Beijing, and product work for Chinese brands and global agencies. It fits any sequence that needs frame-accurate repeatability.
What systems do you provide in China?
We work with all the major motion control rigs across China. These include MILO for large-scale moves, Bolt high-speed robotic arms, Modula rigs, and smaller tabletop systems for product work. The right choice depends on scale, speed, and payload.
Can motion control work with high-speed cameras?
Yes. Rigs like Bolt are built for high-speed work, and they pair fast programmed moves with high-frame-rate cameras. This creates the dramatic speed-ramped shots common in Chinese car, beauty, and beverage commercials.
How do you handle multi-pass shooting?
We program moves that repeat the same way for each pass, such as the talent pass, clean plate, and lighting elements. The precision of motion control makes sure every element lines up in compositing, which supports China's fast-growing VFX industry in Beijing and Shanghai.
What about smaller tabletop work?
We provide smaller motion control rigs for tabletop, product, and food photography. These rigs give the same repeatability and precision at a scale suited to Chinese retail, food, beauty, and consumer electronics brands.
