Gear planning in China means working with one of the largest rental inventories in Asia. It centers on Beijing, Shanghai, and Hengdian, with backup depots in Qingdao at the Oriental Movie Metropolis and in Hangzhou for the Yangtze River Delta. Many of the major Chinese rental houses tie back to China Film Group, Huayi Brothers Studios, and the Wanda Pictures supply chain.

These houses carry full ARRI Alexa 35 and LF bodies, RED V-Raptor and Komodo packages, and Sony Venice and FX9 builds. They also hold signature lens sets, including Cooke S7/i, ARRI Signature Primes, and the Chinese-market DZOFilm and Vantage Hawk anamorphic lines now popular on iQIYI and Tencent shoots. Lighting stock runs from ARRI SkyPanel and Aputure LS 1200d packages to large HMI and tungsten kits that suit Hengdian's Tang and Ming dynasty backlots. Grip departments routinely support remote-head, Steadicam, MoVI Pro, and the Chinese-built Z Cam gimbal rigs that have joined the global fleet.

Our planners work department by department to map tech needs against rental access, customs, and budget. This matters most for shoots importing gear under ATA carnet through Beijing Capital, Shanghai Pudong, or Hong Kong, where SAFE foreign exchange rules add a layer to vendor settlements that local-only crews often miss. We set up two-to-four-week bookings on signature glass and rare items, lock priority access through our rental partnerships with Beijing, Shanghai, Hengdian, and Qingdao houses, and run delivery schedules in step with the production's prep calendar.

On-call tech support runs through the shoot. We stage replacement units in Beijing and Shanghai for twenty-four-hour response on Alexa, Venice, and Komodo bodies. For aerial work, we set up CAAC drone permits alongside DJI Inspire 3 and Ronin 4D packages, so the camera plan never gets ahead of the regulatory clearance.
