VFX compositing in China is anchored by Nuke-based pipelines at the country's senior houses — Base FX in Beijing (Pacific Rim, Game of Thrones, Pan), More VFX (Wandering Earth I and II, The Great Wall, Three-Body Problem), Pixomondo Beijing inside the global network, MacroGraph and Bottleship VFX as mid-tier specialists, with PostVision Beijing extending coverage on broadcast and commercial briefs.

Here is how this works in practice. Our coordination places projects with compositing teams scaled to shot volume — a senior Beijing facility for several hundred final shots on a Frant Gwo–scale theatrical feature, a mid-tier house for an episodic streaming series shipping through Tencent Video or iQIYI, or a focused boutique for commercial VFX shooting in Shanghai and Beijing for the luxury and tech sectors.

The picture on the ground is more specific. We manage shot turnover from the offline edit, make sure plates are graded and conformed cleanly before compositing begins, and structure review cycles through ftrack, Shotgrid or Frame.io with proxies served inside China so feedback travels efficiently between Beijing supervisors and overseas producers on cross-border co-productions cleared through NRTA. Briefings run in Mandarin and English with daily review notes and supervisor-on-set attendance available for Hengdian, Qingdao Wanda and Shanghai Songjiang virtual-production work.

Green-screen keying is delivered through multi-channel keying tools, advanced edge processing and spill suppression. Techniques sharpened across years of fantasy and mythological feature work where wire-augmented stunt photography, CGI-creature integration and full digital environment replacement come standard. Motion tracking uses 3DEqualizer and PFTrack for camera-tracked shots, with object tracking and lens-distortion solves matched against Chinese rental-house lens databases.

A few details matter here. Compositors work in linear ACES pipelines at the higher end, with full support for ARRIRAW, RED R3D and Sony Venice X-OCN, and HDR delivery specifications matching the requirements of domestic streamers and global platforms releasing into China through co-pro routes. Chinese features and series including Wandering Earth I and II, Creation of the Gods Trilogy, The Great Wall, Three-Body Problem, the Detective Chinatown franchise, Ne Zha and Yao-Chinese Folktales have shipped substantial composite shot counts through Beijing houses.

The breakdown looks like this. Finals deliver as DPX or EXR sequences for finishing, ProRes masters for streaming, and submission packages for Hundred Flowers Awards (Best VFX), Golden Rooster and Asia Cinema Awards. Cross-border asset movement is handled under PIPL, the Cybersecurity Law and Data Security Law.
