Moodboard and lookbook work in China draws on a wide visual vocabulary. It swings from the vermillion walls and yellow glazed tiles of the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven to the neon corridors of Shanghai's Bund and Pudong, the green tea hillsides above Hangzhou's West Lake, the karst peaks of the Li River around Yangshuo, the sandstone pillars of Zhangjiajie, and the dusty ochre of Dunhuang and the Gobi.

Our designers gather references that match the texture of your project. That might be the painterly grace of a Zhang Yimou wuxia, the urban realism of a Jia Zhangke feature, the candy-coloured gloss of a Shanghai Fashion Week campaign, the moody Hong Kong noir of a Wong Kar-wai homage, or the operatic scale of a Frant Gwo science-fiction set piece. Each board is built in close work with your director, DP, and production designer. That way, colour palettes, lighting references, and composition studies feed straight into call-sheet decisions rather than sitting in a slide deck.

Chinese shoots reward early visual alignment because the country shifts so much across one schedule. Northern grasslands, eastern megacities, southern karst, and the Tibetan and Yunnan frontiers each carry their own light, weather, and cultural code. We deliver first-pass moodboards inside forty-eight hours. We then run revision cycles through Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud, so partners in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and overseas can comment in the same file.

The picture on the ground is more specific. Lookbooks scale from a tight reference document for a single-day commercial up to a thirty-page treatment for an NRTA script submission or a CFCC co-production application. Each carries notes on wardrobe, set dressing, season, and time of day. Wardrobe covers hanfu, qipao, Tang-dynasty silhouettes, and ethnic minority textiles from Yunnan and Guizhou. The scheduling notes respect Chinese New Year and October Golden Week shutdowns, plus the Beijing winter pollution windows from October through March. The aim is a shared visual contract each department can read on the day.
